After a 16-year hiatus, British rock band Oasis has reunited for their highly anticipated ‘Live ’25 Tour,’ marking their first live performances since their split in 2009. The tour commenced on July 4 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and is set to conclude on November 23 in São Paulo, Brazil. The reunion features the original lineup, including brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, along with Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and drummer Joey Waronker.
The tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Definitely Maybe, and includes 41 shows across Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America. Fans can expect performances of classic hits, reigniting the band’s legacy on a global stage.
The opening night in Cardiff featured a 23-song setlist, including fan favorites such as “Hello,” “Acquiesce,” “Morning Glory,” “Some Might Say,” “Bring It On Down,” “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” “Fade Away,” “Supersonic,” “Roll With It,” “Talk Tonight,” “Half the World Away,” “Little by Little,” “D’You Know What I Mean?,” “Stand by Me,” “Cast No Shadow,” “Slide Away,” “Whatever,” “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “The Masterplan,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and “Champagne Supernova” .
The tour’s announcement on August 27, 2024, just two days before the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe, sparked immense excitement among fans. Initial ticket sales saw unprecedented demand, with reports of over 14 million people attempting to purchase tickets for the initial 17 UK and Ireland shows, which quickly sold out .
However, the ticketing process faced criticism. The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) warned Ticketmaster of potential legal action over concerns of misleading consumers. Allegations included mislabeling standard seats as “platinum” and selling them at inflated prices without additional benefits. The CMA highlighted issues with transparency around pricing structures, leading to fan frustration .
Despite these challenges, the tour has been met with enthusiasm. The band has also engaged in unique collaborations, such as partnering with League of Ireland Premier Division club Bohemian FC for merchandise, featuring the Oasis logo as the front sponsor on the club’s new FAI Cup shirt. This move, despite the Gallagher brothers’ known support for Manchester City, has been well-received by fans .
Adding to the tour’s allure, a concert film documenting the reunion is in production. Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, is set to produce the film, which will feature behind-the-scenes footage and concert performances, offering fans an intimate look at the band’s return to the stage .
The ‘Live ’25 Tour’ not only marks a significant moment in Oasis’s history but also serves as a testament to their enduring influence in the music world. As the tour progresses, fans worldwide eagerly anticipate the band’s performances, celebrating the legacy of one of Britain’s most iconic rock bands.
