Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson has officially unveiled her fifth studio album, Midnight Sun, set for release on September 26, 2025. The announcement, made on June 5, marks a pivotal moment in Larsson’s career as it represents her first independent release following her departure from the major label system.
Larsson describes Midnight Sun as her most personal work to date, drawing inspiration from the perpetual daylight of Swedish summers. “I wanted the whole album to feel like it’s a summer night and it never ends,” she shared, emphasizing her desire for the music to be a constant source of warmth and return, regardless of the season.
The 10-track album was crafted over the past year with frequent collaborator MNEK, alongside producers Margo XS and Zhone, and songwriter Helena Gao. The lead single, “Pretty Ugly,” released on April 25, 2025, showcases an electro-pop sound and has been met with positive reception. The title track, “Midnight Sun,” is scheduled for release on June 13, 2025.
To promote the album, Larsson will embark on the Midnight Sun Tour, beginning in Europe this October. The tour includes arena dates across major cities such as London, Amsterdam, and Stockholm, marking her biggest headline shows to date.
In addition to her own tour, Larsson will join Tate McRae’s Miss Possessive Tour in North America, performing in cities including Vancouver, Chicago, and New York. She is also set to support OneRepublic on their 2026 Australia and New Zealand dates.
Tickets for the Midnight Sun Tour go on general sale at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, June 13, via Ticketmaster. Fans can sign up for a presale through Larsson’s website, with presale access beginning on Wednesday, June 11.
Larsson’s transition to independent artistry with Midnight Sun signifies a bold new chapter in her career, showcasing her evolution as an artist and her commitment to creative freedom.
